We fangirl HARD over here at Phashion Phish for Misty Copeland! She’s inspired one of our writers to take up adult ballet; and she LOVES pointing out how she has made it to pointe! So, when we heard that she will be part of the cast for “The Sleeping Beauty” presented by the New York based American Ballet Theatre (ABT) at the Detroit Opera House for Spring 2016, we collectively sighed and did a pirouette!

Copeland will also offer a sneak peek of the spring production on October 3rd, with Gabe Stone Shayer of ABT. They will perform a pas de deux at the Michigan Opera Theatre’s Annual Opera Ball Gala fundraiser.

The spring 2016 production of “The Sleeping Beauty” will be held March 31 – April 3! It has been confirmed that Copeland will be a part of the company, but decisions about what role she may dance and the number of performances has not yet been made. Casting details are expected to be made in December, but we know where we will be come this spring! How about you?!?!
